Tentoonstelling van de week - Exposition de la semaine - Exhibition of the week
'Framing a Century - Master Photographers 1840-1940' - The Metropolitan Museum of Art - New York - USA
The exhibition will tell the story of photography’s first 100 years through the work of key figures who helped shape the aesthetic and expressive course of the medium: Gustave Le Gray, Roger Fenton, Carleton Watkins, William Henry Fox Talbot, Julia Margaret Cameron, Nadar, Édouard Baldus, Charles Marville, Eugène Atget, Walker Evans, Man Ray, Henri Cartier-Bresson, and Brassaï. The exhibition will present 10 to 12 iconic works by each of these artists to convey a broad sense of their contributions to photography. Many of the works are drawn from the Museum’s 2005 acquisition of the Gilman Collection.

Arken Museum of Modern Art - Ishoj - Danmark
The recurrent narrative of the museum is the ship.
ARKEN's shape, however, is not that of a complete ship. In fact, it looks more like a ship split open.
But placed in the maritime surroundings, the building resembles a ship, stranded only few metres from the sea.
Like on a real ship all constructions are visible. Outside as well as inside, fragments of parts and elements of a ship create a maritime atmosphere.
Even the few recurring ornaments – the bolt and the nut – have been copied from maritime architecture.
5.000 m² for the art
In 1988 Copenhagen County arranged an architectural competition for a new culture centre in the area west of Copenhagen. ARKEN was the result.
Building began in 1994, and in March 1996 the 9,200 m² large museum was ready for use.
In 2005, after only nine years, it was decided to expand ARKEN. The new extension supplements the existing structure and has given ARKEN even more room for the art.
The extension opened in early 2008.

Expo 58

Expo 58 opened the gates for the public on april 17 of the year 1958 and closed the doors on october 19 of the same year.
It took place on the outskirts of Brussels city, at the Heysel site, with the park of Ossegem in the centre. 200 hectares were divided into 7 sections and 52 countries participated with more than 150 pavilions. The theme of the fair was: “A world view - A new humanism”.
