'Turner to Monet - The triumph of landscape' - National Gallery of Australia - Canberra - Australia
Turner to Monet presents an opportunity to experience paintings never before seen in Australia, and only at the National Gallery of Australia.
Works by the finest artists of the time – Turner, Constable, Friedrich, Corot, Courbet, Glover, von Guérard, Church, Streeton, Roberts, Cézanne, Van Gogh, Gauguin, Monet – have been gathered from public and private collections from around the world.
The exhibition provides a unique opportunity for Australians to see landscape masterpieces in oil and watercolour from the finest collections of the world, including Tate Britain, Royal Academy of Arts, J Paul Getty Museum, National Gallery of Art, Washington, and Kröller-Müller Museum.

Mundaneum - Mons - Belgique
Le projet du Mundaneum, son histoire:
L'origine du Mundaneum remonte à la fin du XIXème siècle. Créé à l’initiative de deux juristes belges, Paul Otlet et Henri La Fontaine, le projet visait à rassembler l’ensemble des connaissances du monde et à les classer selon le système de Classification Décimale Universelle (CDU) qu’ils avaient mis au point.
Outil de connaissance pour la paix, le Mundaneum était conçu à la base comme un centre de documentation à caractère universel. Il fut durant la première moitié du XXème siècle le berceau d’institutions internationales humanistes dédiées au Savoir et à la Fraternité universelle. A partir de 1920, il occupa une aile du Cinquantenaire à Bruxelles. Ses collections y étaient exposées dans l’esprit des expositions universelles.
Un projet plus grandiose prit ensuite forme, celui d’une Cité Mondiale pour laquelle Le Corbusier réalisa plans et maquettes. L’objectif de la Cité était de rassembler, à un degré mondial, les grandes institutions du travail intellectuel : bibliothèques, musées et universités. Ce projet ne pourra finalement jamais se réaliser. Utopique par excellence, le projet du Mundaneum a été en effet très vite confronté à l'ampleur du développement technique de son époque. Une partie de ses archives sont depuis 1998 abritées au coeur de la ville de Mons, au 76 de la rue de Nimy.
Sous son appellation éponyme, le Mundaneum est aujourd'hui un centre d'archives de la Communauté française. Ouvert au public depuis 1998, le Mundaneum bénéficie d'une salle d 'exposition dont la scénographie a été réalisée par François Schuiten et Benoît Peeters.
Un centre d'archives
L'héritage documentaire conservé aujourd'hui au Mundaneum se compose, outre des archives personnelles des fondateurs, des fonds d'archives spécifiques liés au féminisme, à l'anarchisme, au pacifisme, mais aussi de livres, petits documents affiches, cartes postales, plaques de verre, du Répertoire Bibliographique Universel et du Musée International de la Presse, soit 6000 mètres courants de documents.
Un centre d'expositions, de formations, de conférences.
Dans un souci de filiation, le Mundaneum, reconnu aujourd'hui comme Centre d'archives privées de la Communauté française et espace d'exposiitons temporaires, place les notions d'utopie, d'accès à la connaissance, d'internationalisme et de pacifisme au coeur de ses préoccupations. Il organise en ce sens des conférences, cafés-philo, visites guidées, expositions et formations au classement d'archives. Il participe également à différents projets européens.

The excitement surrounding the 7th annual contemporary art fair, Art Prague, is a testimony to the enduring interest and involvement of lovers of art, both gallerists and the public.
Over the past six years the art fair has undergone considerable evolution. The private galleries have been offering increasingly more sophisticated and diverse exhibitions and their presentations have become more self-asssured. Each year some galleries have been replaced by new participants.
The art fair is in a way a message to the public-at-large that there exists an annual art “market’, a diverse forum offering the latest developments in the visual arts and thousands of originals in one location.
Art connoisseurs and collectors are obviously much better oriented to such an event, but for the amateur or even for someone who is getting in touch with the art market for the first time, a visit to Art Prague is ideal.
And not only for the „beginner“, but also for the experienced art lover or collector who does not have enough time to visit a number of exhibitions over the year. The art fair presents an extensive and varied selection of the contemporary art scene, over the course of one week, under just one roof.
And the continued enthusiasm of the visitor also enriches the work of the galleries throughout the season, as he follows what is going on in his favorite ones. Participating galleries have thus enjoyed the increasing attention of the public over the six years since the inauguration of Art Prague.
Of indisputable importance is the orientation of Prague’s art fair on the map of Europe and the growing interest of participants from abroad. Art Prague 2008 will feature a number of new galleries from Austria, Germany and The Netherlands. The inevitable international contacts and discussions in Prague have been most fruitful, resulting in several joint projects between Czech and foreign galleries and fostering the presentation of Czech art abroad.

Gran Telescopio Canarias
The Gran Telescopio CANARIAS (GTC), is a 10.4m telescope with a segmented primary mirror and a high performance. It is located in one of the top astronomical sites in the Northern Hemisphere: the Observatorio del Roque de los Muchachos (ORM, La Palma, Canary Islands). The "First Light" event took place on July 13st, 2007.
The GTC Project is a Spanish initiative leaded by the Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC). The project is actively supported by the Spanish Government and the Local Government from the Canary Islands through the European Funds for Regional Development (FEDER) provided by the European Union. The project also includes the participation of Mexico (Instituto de Astronomía de la Universidad Nacional Autónoma de Mexico (IA-UNAM) and Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica (INAOE )) and the US (University of Florida)
